Hosting Packages are charged at the relevant monthly amounts, but billed Annually: View Packages.
Reseller Packages are billed Monthly.
Packages can be uprgraded at any time.
Domain Names
The majority of our domains names cost around £10 per year (most UK domains are subject to two years registration).

Transfers
When you start using BWS' services, you have several options.
You can purchase:
Register New Domain
You need a domain name, purchase one here, on top of your hosting package.
BWS will provide you with domain renewals.
Transfer My Existing Domain
You already own and domain name, which you transfer to BWS, and contact us for domain renewals (This can be a lengthy process).
You purchase a transfer (this usually includes a renewal), and a hosting package.
In future BWS will provide you with renewals.
I will use My Existing Domain and update My Nameservers only
You already own a domain name and point it at BWS's servers - Just pay for hosting.
Contact your domain name supplier for renewals.
Why are you so cheap?
We're cheap because we don't make a huge profit from every hosting account we sell.
We aim for customers to be so impressed with our service that they recommend us to 2 friends, resulting in referrals that we have not had to advertise for.
Servers
What are your servers?
We use industrial strength web server equipment for performance and reliability including Intel Pentium and Sun Sparc based systems.
Where are your servers?
Our servers are based in the US.
Why don't you provide ASP?
Due to the security issues surrounding other server platforms, we only use high performance UNIX servers which do not support ASP. However, UNIX does support PHP and MySQL which most web designers consider more stable.
What operating system do you use?
We run UNIX based servers for maximum flexibility. Our machines are predominately Redhat based.
Will I have shell access to my account?
Shell access is available to clients who have a valid reason for requiring it, and provdide photographic identity as reassurance.
Domains
Do I have to buy my domain from Betterwebspace?
No, feel free to buy your domain anywhere, and point it to our servers.
My dial-up ISP gives me webspace, and there are many free web hosting services. Why should I pay for web hosting?
Buying professional web hosting from Betterwebspace gives you many benefits over free services. You get a permanent website address, e.g., www.mysite.com, for your website, and complete control over your domain, giving your website a more professional look. You also get to use many web technologies with your account (CGI, PHP etc.) that free accounts can't offer. You also get a generous capacity of webspace, and we don't put banner ads or popups on your website. Plus, with our low prices, professional and reliable webspace is affordable too.
Who owns the domain?
No matter who you purchase the domain from, you remain the owner, so long as your information is in the registrant field of a whois search.
Most companies will place their own information in the admin and technical contact areas. This is normal for administration purposes.
But YOU, the customer should always be the registrant, otherwise you have no legal entitlement to the domain.
Hosting
Do you support Frontpage Extensions 98 / 2000 / 2002?
Yes, we fully support FrontPage 98, 2000 & 2002. To activate FrontPage extensions all you need to do is to log into your easy to use control panel and click on FrontPage and install. The extensions are now live straight away. You need extensions if you are going to upload your webpages to your website via FrontPage. Please bear in mind that these will use some of your disk quota.
I have just ordered, when will my site be live?
If you have ordered a transfer of an existing website, then you will receive your welcome email which includes how to complete the transfer normally within 24 hours. If you have ordered a new website, you will still receive your welcome email within 24 hours, however, your new domain name has to be registered with the worlds computers and this takes between 2-4 days. However, you can still work on your website in the time being as we provide a temporary link until your domain name goes live.
You have Unix Servers - I have windows, is this a problem?
No - not at all. It does not matter what make or model your computer is or what software you run - our servers and webspace work with every type of computer and software without a problem.
How do I access my Control Panel?
Your control panel goes live as soon as you receive our welcome email. If your website was www.mysite.com, your control panel would be http://mysite.com:2082 - please note however that if you have ordered a transfer of an existing website it can take 2-4 days for your website and control panel to become live. In such circumstances we provide a temporary address for you to access your control panel so that you can get working on your website ASAP.
What domain names can I transfer to you?
We can host any domain name in the world and you can transfer any domain name to us free of charge by asking your current provider to change your nameservers to those in your welcome email.
How can I tell if my domain name is available?
Simply visit our domains page HERE and it will show whether it is available or not.
I wish to sell products from my website - Do you offer any e-commerce systems?
We do not ourselves offer e-commerce solutions. However, there are several payment processing solutions around, try:
